ABOUT

Welcome!

About me:

I'm a freelance journalist, artist & content/sales specialist based in north-central Arizona near Sedona. I have years of hands-on experience as well as certifications of study in various areas related to journalism, digital media, design & more. Please refer to my résumé below for more info.

Some background and descriptions of what I do:

Journalism: After spending nearly a decade exploring America's public lands and living and working among two of America's most popular national parks (Grand Canyon & Yellowstone), I recognized the value of the insight I'd gained into the histories, cultures and ecologies that shape the northwest and southwest regions. While in GC, I was presented with an opportunity to share and refine my knowledge of these topics by writing articles for  Western News & Info (Williams-Grand Canyon News), which I happily devoted myself to for 2 years before relocating south to the Verde Valley. Since then, I've worked as both a staff reporter and contributing writer for Larson Newspapers (Sedona Red Rock News, Cottonwood & Camp Verde Journals). Since 2020, I have produced more than 200 widely published articles, many of which are accessible via Muckrack.com

Content/ design/ sales: Having a background in fine art, with nearly two decades of showing my work at various galleries, markets & juried exhibitions, I have a well-developed understanding of visual language and arts culture in general. In addition, I am a graduate of the New York Institute of Art & Design's graphic design certificate program &  have worked for numerous businesses producing videos, social posts and physical products such as stickers and signs. I have a working understanding of web design, popular social media platforms and marketing strategies. I have also helped businesses and individuals by producing documents, manuals and training materials and have served as a design consultant for various special projects.

I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to assist business and individuals by producing articles, content & products if it feels like a good fit. I am also hoping to eventually expand and elevate my work through various grant funded opportunities which are focused on facilitating the creation of multidisciplinary works on public lands such as national & state parks.
